WISHARD CUP FORMAT

This will be our 13th annual Wishard Cup. This is a team event with a scoring format and spirit of our version of the Ryder Cup over 18 holes. Two teams are evenly matched by handicap as close as possible. Team Dean (blue) vs Team Wilson (red). The teams will be determined later, but we'll ask you to wear a Blue or Red shirt to represent your team. This format works best when we have an even number of players (4 players in every group (36,40,44, etc.) But we make it work when there is an odd number.

You will keep a standard scorecard, just like in any tournament. If you score a 6, write 6 on the card. The only difference is how the results are scored: a second scoresheet will be used for your team score. The format consists of three six-hole matches over 18 holes. Your scorecard will look similar to the example below. In that example, the player is a 12 handicap and has 12 dots across 12 holes; each dot represents one stroke. Hole 6 is the No. 1 handicap hole on the course. This player maxed out with a 7 and has one dot on that hole, so they receive one stroke for a 6 on the Wishard Cup scoresheet.

You and your cart partner are a 2-person team competing against the other two cart partners . If you win your match, your team gets a point (ties are ½ point).

Holes 1 - 6: best ball (best score): After handicap, if you have a 5 and your partner has a 6. Your best ball team score is a 5 and you put that on the Wishard Cup scoresheet.

Holes 7 - 12 combined net: After handicap, if you have a 5 and your partner has a 6. Your combined net team score is an 11 and you put that on the Wishard Cup scoresheet.

Holes 13 - 18 match play: For these final 6 holes, you will be competing as an individual against a member on the other team. If you win 3 holes and your opponent wins 3 holes, you each earn a 1/2 point for your team.
